A FEMA employee was terminated after reportedly instructing colleagues assisting hurricane survivors to avoid homes displaying support for President-elect Donald Trump, according to a statement from FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell on Saturday.
“This action is a clear breach of FEMA’s fundamental values, which prioritize assistance to all individuals regardless of their political beliefs,” Criswell stated. “Such behavior is unacceptable.”
The identity of the employee and the specific location of the incident were not disclosed.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis characterized the incident as “targeted discrimination” against Trump supporters in the state and confirmed it took place in Florida.
