Why did Israel choose to attack a petrochemical plant in Iran last night?
The IDF confirms carrying out an attack against the Iranian petrochemical company "Karon" in Mahshahr in Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran. According to the Iranians, part of the facility was hit.
On the surface, it appears to be just another petrochemical plant. In reality, it is a target with industrial importance and security sensitivity.
Karon is one of the prominent companies in the Mahshahr petrochemical area and produces key raw materials for the polyurethane industry - TDI and MDI - which are used, among other things, in insulation, automotive, furniture, adhesives, and sealing materials industries.
But the more sensitive point is another product of the company: nitric acid.
