Israel has reportedly completed the technological integration of its Iron Beam high-powered laser system into the Iron Dome air-defense network.

The upgraded command center can now choose in real time between firing a Tamir interceptor missile or using a laser beam, depending on the target, distance, visibility and weather conditions. 

Each laser interception costs only a few dollars in electricity, compared with tens of thousands of dollars for a conventional interceptor.
