Weapons of war that have never been seen before and the first documentation of the operational activity of the naval commando: the photographer Ziv Koren started accompanying the fighters of the 13th Fleet when Israel celebrated 74, and for a whole year he saw them take over ships in the middle of the sea, operate secretly in enemy territory and arrest those who plan the next attack
The silent fighters
The soldiers of the unit go through an intensive training routine that includes shooting training, diving, operating vessels, physical and mental strength training, parachuting and gliding in various descriptions, assault and sabotage. The 13th Fleet cooperates with other units in the sea arm such as the submarine fleet and the steel fleet, and also takes part in international exercises with corresponding units from foreign navies.
Jumping into the depths
The 13th Fleet is one of the four elite units of the IDF and specializes in combating terrorism mainly in the maritime space, but also on land. The commando fighters often use unique naval vessels - above and below water - to reach the target secretly, and are also trained in air raids - through Parachute or glide of an elite force from helicopters in a short time to the target.
On turbulent waters
The peak of the operational activity in the 13th Fleet is not visible to the public and it takes place as part of the BBM - the campaign between the wars. In the last 13 years, the unit has received five TL for a series of secret, daring and groundbreaking operations that took place outside the borders of the country, operations that contributed greatly to Israel's security, But they will probably remain unknown in the years to come. Over the years, the unit received the Chief of Staff's award seven times.
