Two years after being seriously wounded in Gaza, he is called back to the frontline as a reserve soldier
Two years after suffering severe wounds in Gaza, Israeli singer-actor and combat reservist Idan Amedi has returned to active reserve duty in an operational role, in a move published with military censorship approval.
Amedi, 37, was badly injured during fighting in Gaza while serving with the Combat Engineering Corps reserves, amid operations targeting Hamas’s terror-tunnel network. Reports say the incident occurred during preparations to blow a discovered tunnel area, when a large cache of explosives ignited; six IDF soldiers were killed.
Evacuated by helicopter and treated at Sheba Medical Center while sedated and ventilated, Amedi later told reporters he intended to get back to life—and, if possible, back to the fight. Now, he has.
