Trump admin sets 4 conditions for renewal of talks with Iran
The Trump administration sees the reimposition of U.N. sanctions on Iran through the "snapback" mechanism as a strategic chance to increase pressure on Tehran and set the stage for possible diplomatic talks on its nuclear program, U.S. officials told the Washington Post.
According to one senior official, Washington is now conditioning the renewal of negotiations on four key demands:
Iran must agree to direct and “meaningful” talks, halt uranium enrichment, impose limits on its missile program, and stop funding terror groups across the Middle East.
These conditions, once considered unacceptable by Tehran, are now presented as the baseline for resuming dialogue.
