Lebanese academic professor Ali Khalife: Hezbollah Has led the Shi'ites in Lebanon to suicide; Resistance cannot continue indefinitely – it should have ended in 2000; Accountability is essential.
Lebanese academic and political activist Professor Ali Khalife said on Rabih Yassine's YouTube channel on May 7, 2025, that the Shi'ite sect has been "hijacked," and that the decisions made by Hezbollah and Amal have led the Shi'ite community to "suicide."
He pointed to the thousands of Lebanese who have been killed and the destruction of homes, asking: "Shouldn't we ask for accountability?" He emphasized that accountability has become "essential," and called for new Shi'ite voices to emerge.
Khalife questioned how a resistance movement can continue indefinitely and stated that it should have ended when Israel withdrew from South Lebanon in 2000, blaming the group for provoking another Israeli invasion and occupation.
