A French website has revealed information he described as "leaks", according to which the Assad regime removed the head of the National Security Ministry, Major General Ali Mamluk, whom the report called "the powerful man of the Assad regime", and gave his powers to another figure the regime had been preparing for months.
The website noted that the small number of appearances in the media and its disappearance from the international front of Syria, in fact prove the correctness of what was said in the leaks.
Who was Major General Ali Mamluk? The man who handled complex and sensitive issues
According to a report published by the French intelligence website Intelligence Online, Mamluk was for years the most powerful man of the Assad regime, especially in light of his handling of more complex and sensitive issues such as the Kurdish deal and negotiations, and issues of regional and global reconciliation, especially regarding Syria's return and acceptance in the world.
The report added that despite his senior status, Mamluk has been absent from the public arena for months, and not only that, but the Assad regime has begun using a new personality who has become his "rising star", the Circassian general and head of the General Intelligence Service - Hussam Luka who has taken on the roles of Mamluk.
Who are you, Hossam Luka?
Hossam Luqa, the head of the General Intelligence Service, who hails from the town of Hanasser in southern Aleppo, is the most prominent figure to have appeared at the site recently, especially after his direct command on the issue of southern Syria.
