Gunmen on motorcycles stormed a crowded market, opening fire, burning stalls, and abducting civilians, including women and children.
At least 30 people were killed when armed attackers raided Daji market in Niger State, witnesses and local reports said. The assailants arrived on motorcycles, fired indiscriminately, set stalls ablaze, and kidnapped civilians as they fled the scene.
Many of the victims were Christians, according to local sources, raising fresh concerns about sectarian targeting amid Nigeria’s worsening security crisis. Authorities have launched a manhunt, but the attackers escaped into surrounding areas, underscoring the ongoing challenge of protecting rural communities from heavily armed gangs.
