Israel’s Airports Authority held a conference to prepare for a scenario of a multi-system attack at an Israeli airport.
This is especially important these days as hacking has become a toll for terror and is backed by countries like Iran.
“In view of the fact that the continuous operation of aviation in Israel is of international and national importance,” explained the Authority, “and in light of the fact that shutting down aviation could be a significant psychological achievement for the enemy, and therefore, beyond the importance of maintaining functional continuity, the issue of consciousness is of great importance.”
During the discussion, the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation Moshe Ben-Zakan said that “we are here today to ensure that in any scenario, and in any deployment, Israel’s aviation system will continue to operate and not sit down, not even for a single moment! This is our mission and we are determined to do everything to fulfill it.”
Ben Zaken said that the importance of the discussion is “first and foremost in order to get to know the PA’s holistic response to the war scenario, to ensure and tighten full synchronization between all the relevant factors and partner bodies; The Ministry of Defense, the IDF – the Air Force and the Home Front Command, the police, the Civil Aviation Authority, the National Emergency Authority and the airlines.”
The Airports Authority manages major national infrastructure facilities, including Ben Gurion Airport, through which the aviation connection with the world is maintained, Ramon Airport, and the border crossings between Israel and Jordan and Egypt and more.
