Israeli special forces conducted a covert overnight mission in eastern Lebanon searching for clues related to missing Israeli navigator Ron Arad, but no direct findings were discovered.
Special forces operated overnight between Friday and Saturday in the village of Nabi Shit in the Bekaa Valley of eastern Lebanon, attempting to locate evidence connected to Ron Arad, the Israeli Air Force navigator who taken prisoner after his jet was hit, and subsquently disappeared in 1986.
According to the IDF, the operation was made possible due to a temporary operational opportunity created by the ongoing military campaign in Lebanon and the evacuation of nearby villages. Israeli forces entered the cemetery area in the town while operating under full fire support and security coverage.
Contrary to reports circulating in Lebanese media, the IDF clarified that its forces were not fired upon during the mission and no Israeli soldiers were injured.
