Israeli Doctor Moshe Farchi has shared his “disappointment” from being boycotted by an Australian medical conference over the weekend, having already arrived in the country.
The Frontline Mental Health Conference were bombarded with calls from pro-Palestinian activists to have Mr Farchi’s presentation boycotted resulting in them cancelling the Israeli doctors slot last minute.
“I not only feel disappointed, but I feel sorry being a first responder myself. I feel so disappointed for all these hundreds of first responders, I could actually provide some very important information,” Mr Farchi told Sky News Australia host Sharri Markson.
“How to keep on their very important work.
“And well these bunch of people who are extremely radical succeeded not only to kick me out of this conference, but succeeded to increase the high risk for all the participants by just not letting me speak.”
Conference organizers told Sky News Australia they had received a high volume of online abuse and telephone calls from protestors and activists regarding Mr Farchi’s attendance, and chose to follow expert security advice to cancel his slot as there was insufficient time to conduct a thorough risk assessment to ensure the safety of conference attendees.
