With the spread of terrorism in Syria and its arrival in the capital Damascus on Saturday night, December 7, 2024, against a backdrop of a flood of confusion and unfounded stories, questions have been raised about my fate and whereabouts.

At a historic and critical moment in the life of a nation where truth must have a place, there is something that needs to be clarified in a short statement.

First, I did not leave the country as planned, nor did I leave it in the last hours of the fighting, but I remained in Damascus until Sunday morning and dealt with the issues at hand out of my responsibility to myself and the Syrian people.
