In an interview with Fox News, Bessent said: "What’s interesting is that no country other than China, which already used to buy it even when sanctions were imposed, is buying it. So it is still sold at a discount to China."

Bessent noted that other buyers are concerned that the US might reimpose sanctions on oil coming from Iran. He added that this concern is one of the reasons why Iran is negotiating with Washington.
