Israel says the strike hit the central command hub used by the IRGC Navy to direct maritime terror activity and operations against Israel and regional shipping.
The IDF says the Air Force carried out a precision strike on the main headquarters of the IRGC Navy, using intelligence provided by Military Intelligence and the Israeli Navy’s intelligence branch.
According to the statement, the headquarters was located inside a large military compound belonging to the Iranian regime in eastern Tehran and had long served senior commanders overseeing the force’s operations.
The IDF said the IRGC Navy has been directly responsible for attacks on international freedom of navigation and for terror activity against civilian vessels. It also said the force played a central role in arming and financing the regime’s terror proxies through the transfer of weapons by sea. Israel says the strike is meant to deepen the damage to the force’s ability to plan and carry out attacks against Israel and against international trade and maritime traffic in the Middle East.
