A new survey reveals that an overwhelming majority of Lebanese citizens want Hezbollah’s weapons removed.
A newly published Lebanese survey shows a dramatic national consensus in favor of disarming Hezbollah — a clear sign that the group’s armed dominance is rejected by nearly every major community in the country.
According to the poll, 79% of Lebanese citizens support dismantling Hezbollah’s weapons. Breakdown by community shows near-unanimous opposition to Hezbollah’s armed power among non-Shiite groups:
- 92% of Christians support disarmament
- 89% of Druze support disarmament
- 87% of Sunnis support disarmament
- Only 27% of Shiites support disarmament — demonstrating that Hezbollah’s weapons remain backed primarily by its narrow sectarian base, not by Lebanon at large.
