British police announced today that two London residents have been charged with terrorist offenses, primarily belonging to Hezbollah and receiving military training in Lebanon.
The two, Anis Maki (40) and Mohammed Hadi Kassir (33), were arrested last April and released on bail, but were rearrested a week ago and charged.
According to the charges, Maki has belonged to Hezbollah since at least the beginning of 2020 and even expressed support for Hamas after the October 7, 2023 attack, while Kassir has belonged to Hezbollah since February 2015.
The indictments also state that the two also underwent terrorist training at the Birkat Jabour air base in southern Lebanon in September 2021. This is the airport that was used by Hezbollah’s air wing for drone operations – as revealed by former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in September 2023 – and which was attacked by the IDF in January 2024. Maki is also accused of involvement in the preparation of terrorist acts.
