What made the horrors of the German Nazi Holocaust so uniquely cruel? Today, we witnessed echoes of that brutality in Gaza.
Throughout history, human beings have inflicted violence upon one another—tragedies dating back to Cain and Abel, and countless conflicts since. Criminals, driven by motives ranging from greed to ideology, have been portrayed in Hollywood films and television, and many of us have experienced war firsthand.
Yet, what set German Nazism apart—and now, the Arab Nazis—is not merely the act of murder, but the calculated, sadistic cruelty with which it is carried out.
During the Holocaust, Jews and other victims in concentration camps were not simply killed; they were humiliated, tortured, and subjected to psychological torment, never knowing if each day would be their last.
The same horror is unfolding with our hostages in Gaza.
For these terrorists, it is not enough to hold innocent people captive in unthinkable conditions. On releasing these hostages, they first exploit them, parade them through crowds that yell like dogs for their death, and use them as instruments of psychological warfare—all while much of the world looks away or rationalizes their suffering.
But we, the Jewish people, will not forget. No amount of misguided narratives can erase the truth of this brutality. The world may continue in willful ignorance, but the Jewish People will forever remember.
