Jaldia Abubakra, the Madrid coordinator for Samidoun and an executive member of Masar Badil, said shortly before her designation by the US Treasury that October 7 restored what she called the centrality of the Palestinian cause and normalized open support for armed struggle.
Speaking on Samidoun’s *Break the Silence* podcast, Abubakra said that in the past, few people spoke openly about armed struggle, but that today many publicly support the so-called Palestinian “resistance” and claim that Palestinians have a right to use armed struggle to reclaim land and rights.
She said public opinion has shifted to the point where people now openly support Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah — groups she claimed were once avoided because of “Islamophobia.” According to Abubakra, these organizations are political movements that pursue liberation through their own methods of struggle.
She also argued that Western and European supporters should stop imposing conditions on Palestinians or trying to force a European leftist model of resistance onto them. She said many now accept that every people has the right to choose its own form of struggle.
