Against the background of the coup attempt in Sudan: A revolution, a protest, or just one big show?

The Sudanese Armoured Corps is the most powerful military unit of the Sudanese army. The total number of armoured forces in the Al-Shajara area includes 3 armoured brigades consisting of 360 tanks and an unknown number of various armoured vehicles. The side to which the Armoured Corps joins in any internal struggle for power in Sudan always comes out on top.

The unit has gained experience in coups (President Jaafar Numari seized power using armoured vehicles), and has also played important roles in thwarting a number of them.

In 2008, the Justice and Equality Movement took over Omdurman and began moving towards taking over the city of Khartoum, but the Armoured Corps commander, who was not on their side, managed to fend off the hostile move, and recently they managed to thwart a revolt by local security operations officers.

The senior commander of the Armoured Corps had decided to take control of Khartoum at the time, army units could not deal with it, and the strange thing is that the rebels took over the Sudanese General Staff recently, then evacuated it voluntarily, which led experts to estimate that the coup was more of a protest More a revolution against the regime or it was all one big show.
