An Iraqi terrorist linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly plotted to assassinate Ivanka Trump in revenge for the US strike that killed Qasem Soleimani in 2020.
According to the New York Post, the suspect was identified as Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, 32, an Iraqi national tied to the IRGC and Kata’ib Hezbollah. He allegedly made a pledge to kill Ivanka Trump and had obtained a blueprint of her Florida home.
Al-Saadi was reportedly captured in Turkey on May 15 and extradited to the US. He is now facing charges connected to a wider terror network accused of attacks and attempted attacks across Europe and North America, including plots against US and Jewish targets.
The report says Al-Saadi was motivated by revenge for the killing of Soleimani, the former commander of Iran’s Quds Force, who was eliminated in a US drone strike ordered by President Trump in January 2020. Soleimani was one of the key architects of Iran’s regional terror network, including support for Hezbollah, militias in Iraq, and other proxy forces.
