A Syrian citizen who considers himself a "loyalist of the regime" spoiled a visit by Asma al-Assad (Bashar's wife) to the northern village of al-Fahura in Latakia and poured out his anger over the lack of the most basic services, leaving her in an embarrassing situation.
The local news site Latakia News wrote in a post yesterday that "for the first time a citizen says to Mrs. Asma, we are tired", and asked her to pass on their suffering to Bashar al-Assad.
Al-Mawali referred to the deterioration in agriculture and the death of crops due to an acute shortage of irrigation water, assuring Asma that the entourage surrounding her and Bashar al-Assad is a group of liars, "everyone present near you - is lying to you" - he said, according to the source.
Al-Mawli's speech comes in light of the Assad militia's abandonment of the simplest tasks of providing essential services to villages and towns, and its latest prank to collect money from the people and extort them in exchange for promises to improve the water situation.
