Michigan-based Shia Islamic scholar Sheikh Mohammad Al-Hajj Hassan said that he has yet to find peace in Islam as it is currently preached and practiced, arguing that violent rhetoric has distorted the faith and harmed Shiite communities.
In a December 4, 2025 interview on the YouTube channel Fadi Chahiwan, Hassan said Shiites love life like all other human beings, but groups such as Hezbollah present them only with death and destruction. He argued that Islam has been reduced in the public eye to guns, missiles, murder, and crime, insisting that the religion must be reexamined “from A to Z” to confront and correct these trends.
Hassan stressed that Hezbollah’s worldview reflects a mistaken understanding of Shiite life and values, and warned that the continued glorification of violence is incompatible with genuine peace or human dignity.
He then added: "I have yet to find any peace in Islam."
