ICYMI: Flotilla of “steadfastness” nearing Israel; hundreds of boats en route to Gaza
A new flotilla calling itself the “Flotilla of Steadfastness” is making its way toward Israel’s coast, with organizers claiming nearly 100 boats and around 1,000 activists on board.
The vessels are currently in the waters near Greece and are estimated to be about five days’ sailing from Israeli shores, maintaining a speed of roughly 6 knots (about 11 km/h). Based on current progress, the flotilla is expected to reach the area by Tuesday.
The development is likely to raise tensions as Israel closely monitors attempts to approach the Gaza coast.
