Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham issued a stark warning regarding recent comments by figures involved in the Iranian nuclear file, expressing concern over suggestions that a change in behavior by Iran’s supreme leader could open the door to a renewed agreement with the Islamic Republic.
Writing on X, Graham said such statements deeply alarmed him. He stressed that anyone who believes Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has even the slightest interest in changing his behavior fundamentally misunderstands both Khamenei’s history and the nature of what Graham described as a murderous regime.
Graham drew a sharp historical comparison, saying the idea of reaching a deal with Khamenei is akin to claiming it would have been possible to strike an agreement with Adolf Hitler. “They were wrong about Hitler then, and they are wrong about the ayatollah now,” he wrote. “You cannot do a deal with evil — you must confront it. And that means standing with the Iranian people.”
