The New York Post reported that U.S. Senator Tom Cotton has issued a warning about possible Iranian espionage inside the Pentagon and American intelligence community.
In a letter sent Wednesday, September 3, to FBI Director Kash Patel and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Cotton called for a thorough investigation into potential Iranian spies working within U.S. national security structures.
The senator stressed that the inquiry must address both counterintelligence concerns and possible criminal violations. Cotton warned that highly sensitive national security information may have been passed to a “hostile foreign power,” adding that he believes some U.S. citizens have operated on behalf of Iran’s regime to influence American policy.
