Cracks in the Saudi-Iranian "honeymoon"?

Since the reconciliation agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia was signed in China last March, it seems that the two countries are working to quickly restore relations.

Today, however, initial cracks in this idyll can be discerned, although Saudi Arabia remains silent. What is it about?

Two days ago, Iran announced that it intends to develop the A-Dara gas field. What is the problem? Kuwait claims that this field is entirely in its territory and the gas in it belongs to it and Saudi Arabia. The two Persian Gulf countries even signed an agreement last year for its joint development. Iran claims partial ownership of the field.

Today, Kuwait reacted harshly to the Iranian statements and declared that apart from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, no other country has a right to the gas field. She also called on Iran to enter into negotiations on the maritime borders. In the meantime, as mentioned, the Saudis are silent and let the Kuwaitis do the work, but whoever thinks that an idyll will prevail in relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran is wrong...
