The Italian company ENI announced today the discovery of gas off the coast of Egypt in its concession area known as Narges. The company did not disclose the estimated quantities in the Narges 1 well, but announced that the drilling was done at a depth of 309 meters. According to estimates, this reservoir contains 3.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. It should be noted that the American Chevron, which operates the Tamar and Levitan fields in Israel, is a partner in this reservoir along with the Italian company.
The new discovery joins another discovery made last week by a German company drilling in the Nile Delta region.
