WATCH: Trove of ancient gold coins discovered in Golan Heights
Nearly 100 gold coins and dozens of pieces of gold earrings inlaid with pearls and precious stones were uncovered in a hoard hidden for some 1,400 years.

Israeli archaeologists have discovered a trove of rare pure gold coins and gold earrings in northern Israel, dating back some 1,400 years.
The discovery was made by researchers from the University of Haifa during archaeological excavations in the ancient city of Hippos, also known as Sussita, east of the Sea of Galilee in the Golan Heights.
During the excavations, archaeologists uncovered a rare Byzantine hoard which includes 97 pure gold coins and dozens of fragments of gold earrings inlaid with pearls, semi-precious stones, and glass.
