According to the reports, the IDF has begun to investigate the extent of the consequences for Israel at the military level in the event of a normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia - this is what the Arab news site specializing in security issues "Arabic Defense" claims.
The study will examine the potential consequences of the deal, including partnership and cooperation options, as well as the risks involved for Israel's security, the Walla website reported yesterday, Sunday.
This work is carried out by various branches of the Israeli army, including intelligence, strategic planning, the Iran Division, the Air Force, and more. It will also examine the different types of nuclear programs that Saudi Arabia could establish.
The results will be presented to Chief of Staff Herzi HaLevy and then to Defense Minister Yoav Galant, before being presented to the cabinet, the report states, noting that there is currently no time frame for the research.
These preparations come at a time when the US administration is actively working to try to broker a normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia. As part of this framework, Saudi Arabia is also asking the US to conclude a major mutual defense agreement and major arms deals, as well as Israeli concessions to the Palestinians.
According to reports, Saudi Arabia asked the United States to give the green light to the development of a civilian nuclear program as part of the conditions for the normalization of relations with Israel. The Saudis are also believed to be seeking access to advanced American defense technology.
