Israel is concerned that China may be preparing to help Iran rebuild and expand its surface-to-surface ballistic missile program decimated by Israel in the 12-day-war.
That’s according to Yedioth Ahronoth’s Nadav Eyal, who says the fear stems from signs picked up by Western intelligence, and that in response, “Israel has conveyed messages to Beijing over the issue.”
What did Beijing have to say for itself? According to Eyal, a “senior Israeli source said Beijing has not confirmed to Israel any such plan and that its intentions remain unclear.”
This is a good opportunity for some sober realism. While Israel’s achievements against Iran in June were unprecedented and a cause for pride, Tehran is still run by fanatics with the same desire to wipe the Jewish state off the map.
