After the deadly terror attack targeting Jews at a Chabad Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, Jewish-owned Avner's Bakery announced it was closing, as it could no longer protect its staff or customers amid near-constant antisemitic harassment, threats, and vandalism.
Owner Ed Halmagyi says this has been building for two years, and after the terror attack at Bondi Beach, he feared the eatery could be targeted by those seeking to “globalize” violence against Jews.
“The world changed the other day. Our world changed.”
