American Communist Party official warns of armed resistance, kidnappings if Venezuela aligns with US
In a January 4, 2026 interview with Moscow-based political commentator Jackson Hinkle, Christopher Helali, international chairman of the American Communist Party (ACP), issued stark threats regarding potential US involvement in Venezuela.
Speaking on Hinkle’s Legitimate Targets podcast, Helali claimed that if Venezuela “capitulates” to the United States or undergoes privatization, armed factions would respond with sustained resistance against US forces and interests.
Helali asserted that such resistance would involve thousands of trained militants, including members of the National Liberation Army (ELN), former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia rebels, and other fighters allegedly trained alongside organizations such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Abu Nidal Organization, Libyan factions, and the former Soviet Union. He warned that under such circumstances, “American body bags would start coming home,” adding that both Americans and Venezuelans could be targeted in kidnappings and other attacks by those he described as resisting “US imperialism.”
