Osama Hamdan of the Hamas political bureau said in interviews on August 5 and 7, 2025, on Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) that the occupation has turned Gaza into a Nazi concentration camp worse than Auschwitz, and that the genocidal acts perpetrated in the Gaza Strip have surpassed the Holocaust. 

He said everything the Nazis did seems “insignificant” compared to what the Israelis are doing in Gaza. Discussing the condition of Israeli hostage Evyatar David, shown in a recent Hamas-released video in an emaciated state forced to dig his own grave, Hamdan claimed that David is better off than thousands of Palestinians. 

He added that, according to international law, Hamas should not be blamed for the condition of Israeli hostages because if an enemy imposes a siege on captors of its soldiers, what happens to those soldiers is the responsibility of the besieger.
