CNN estimates that the Syrian regime and the Lebanese Hezbollah have turned Saudi Arabia into the drug capital of the Middle East, due to the many operations and attempts to smuggle these narcotics into it.
The network began its long report on the subject by referring to the crime that occurred in the Kingdom last April, when a man in the Eastern Province set fire to his family's home just before the Iftar meal in Ramadan, killing 4 of them.
At the time, Saudi media confirmed that the perpetrator was under the influence of a drug overdose.
The kingdom's seizure of 47 million narcotic pills testifies to Saudi Arabia's growing role as the drug capital in the Middle East, and that it has become the main target of smugglers from Syria and Lebanon.
