A major security concern is emerging after Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists reportedly shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over Yemen carrying one of America’s most secretive assassination weapons systems.
According to regional reports, the drone was armed with AGM-114R9X “Ninja” Hellfire missiles — a highly classified US weapon designed for surgical assassinations without explosives. Instead of detonating, the missile uses kinetic force and deployable blades to eliminate a target with extreme precision while minimizing civilian casualties.
The drone was reportedly downed over Yemen’s Marib province by Houthi forces using advanced Iranian-linked air defense systems. Analysts now fear that parts of the missile system may already be in Iranian hands — and potentially shared with Russia and China for reverse engineering.
The R9X missile became famous after being used in multiple high-profile US counterterrorism operations, including the 2022 elimination of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul. The weapon leaves almost no blast damage, using hidden blades that deploy seconds before impact.
