India has approved a major defense acquisition package valued at approximately $8.7 billion, which includes the purchase of around 1,000 SPICE-1000 precision-guided munition kits manufactured by Rafael.
The decision highlights the depth and durability of India–Israel defense cooperation, with India continuing to be Israel’s largest overseas defense customer. The SPICE-1000, a combat-proven guidance kit, converts standard unguided bombs into highly accurate, all-weather precision weapons, significantly enhancing strike capability while reducing collateral damage.
For India, the acquisition strengthens air force readiness and precision-strike capacity amid growing regional security challenges. For Israel, it further reinforces its position as a leading global supplier of advanced, battlefield-tested defense technologies and a trusted strategic partner for major powers.
The deal reflects a broader trend of long-term strategic alignment, technology transfer, and operational cooperation between Jerusalem and New Delhi—an axis that continues to expand despite shifting global geopolitics.
