Al-Sharq al-Awsat in Arabic revealed at the end of June that the Fatah organization accuses Hamas of trying to promote a coup in the West Bank following the exposure of a weapons tunnel in which weapons, maps and explosives were also seized in the Beituniya area, near Ramallah.

Days after the bombing of a carpentry shop in Beituniya near Ramallah, Fatah officials confirmed the existence of a Hamas plan to take over the West Bank.

"Al-Sharq al-Awsat" is Fatah's first public accusation to Hamas of attempting a coup, according to the same sources: "The tunnels were loaded with weapons and explosives".
