It’s worth noting that the opening of the aid distribution centers marks a highly sensitive and decisive moment in the war.
Operationally, if Israel succeeds in cutting off the civilian population’s dependence on Hamas for their daily needs, it would essentially pull the rug out from under Hamas as the governing authority in Gaza.
The people have already lost normal lives, homes, and basic infrastructure that Hamas once provided. Now, if the plan works, even food will no longer come from Hamas — and that’s dramatic.
Diplomatically, if Israel can convince the world that Gaza’s civilians are not starving, it will ease some of the heavy international pressure.
Delivering that message requires not just logistical success, but a major explanatory and public diplomacy effort. Right now, our strategic messaging is quite paralyzed, and that’s a real shame.
Of course, if the move succeeds, we may soon witness a collapse of Hamas, or at least of its control.
IDF soldiers, who are doing holy work, must be protected at all costs. I pray for their safety.
