Two U.S.-based Christian pro-Israel groups have filed a defamation lawsuit against UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, accusing her of targeting them with false and dangerous claims.
Christian Friends of Israeli Communities and Christians for Israel USA filed the suit in federal court in Colorado, after Albanese sent them letters accusing them of complicity in “genocide” and warning of “potential criminal liability” for supporting Israel’s presence in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank).
The complaint, brought by the National Jewish Advocacy Center, highlights Albanese’s past record of antisemitic statements and what it calls “unprofessional conduct.” It also argues that her UN immunity should not shield her from accountability.
The groups stress they are nonprofit religious and charitable organizations dedicated to strengthening ties between Christians, Jews, and Israel, rejecting any suggestion of unlawful activity. They also note that Albanese persisted in her accusations even after the U.S. Department of Justice cautioned her against such claims.
