British, French, and German ambassadors have privately warned Russian officials that NATO may target Russian fighter jets if they violate the airspace of alliance members.
The warning came after three Russian MiG-31 jets entered Estonian airspace last week. Bloomberg, citing European officials present at the Moscow meeting, reported that the incursion was deliberate and carried out under direct orders.
This message follows a series of recent incidents involving Russian drones and jets flying over NATO countries. Analysts describe these actions as part of Moscow’s “hybrid warfare” strategy, designed to pressure Europe and test the alliance’s internal unity.
