Terrorists fired two rockets from the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening, both of which were intercepted
(July 2, 2025 / JNS) The Israel Defense Forces’ 99th and 98th Divisions have renewed operations in the Gaza Strip, the military announced on Tuesday.
Reservists of the 99th “Ha’Bazak” Infantry Division have returned to the Strip for the first time since the start of the IDF’s ground invasion on Oct. 27, 2023, operating against terror groups in northern and central Gaza, it said.
Meanwhile, the 98th Paratroopers Division renewed counter-terrorism operations in Gaza City, where it was deployed alongside soldiers of the 162nd Division, per the IDF.
Prior to the 98th Division joining the operation, the Israeli Air Force carried out strikes in the area, eliminating dozens of terrorists and enabling the ground entry of the division’s troops, including the Commando Brigade and the 7th Brigade, the statement noted.
According to the IDF, approximately 100 terrorist targets have been hit since the 98th Division deployed, including gunmen, weapons storage facilities, operation centers and enemy observation posts.
Terrorists fired two rockets from the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening, both of which were intercepted after sirens sounded in communities near the border, the IDF said in an earlier statement.
According to the military, the projectiles crossed into Israeli territory before being successfully intercepted. No injuries or damage were reported.
The IDF on Friday night intercepted a rocket fired by Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
The attack triggered air-raid sirens in the southern Negev Desert, with no reports of injuries or damage.
