The Lebanese news site Al-Akhbar, affiliated with Hezbollah, claims, citing Egyptian sources, that Israeli-Egyptian relations are moving towards improvement thanks to a number of changes, primarily the restoration of diplomatic communication channels, which are expected to begin next week.
According to the sources, Egypt conditioned the renewal of diplomatic relations on “continuing work on the ceasefire agreement and not violating it or returning to fighting” and “reopening the Rafah crossing in the coming days” (it was written that it was supposed to open on Monday).
According to the sources, if the ceasefire continues, even with limited violations, Cairo will authorize the Israeli ambassador to Cairo, but his involvement in Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's meetings with foreign diplomats will be postponed until further notice.
It was also claimed that senior Egyptian officials have ruled out the possibility of diplomatic relations (between the two countries) developing before the Israeli elections, given the current government's inability to make decisive decisions regarding the two-state solution adopted by Cairo.
