Lebanese dissident-journalist and contributor of NEWSRAEL says the the new agreement between the states of Lebanon and Israel show that the idea that "diplomacy is stronger than war" represents a profound political defeat for Hezbollah.
Here is her column on this issue:
Unlike the 2006 conflict, where Hassan Nasrallah could famously claim a "Divine Victory" (al-Nasr al-Ilahi) for his militia, Hezbollah cannot claim ownership of this outcome. This time, it is the official Lebanese government—not a non-state armed group—that holds the diplomatic pen and dictates the peace.
By tying the withdrawal of Israeli forces explicitly to the deployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Israel has intentionally elevated the legitimacy of the Lebanese state. This move effectively strips Hezbollah of its historical narrative as the sole "protector" of Lebanon, dealing a massive blow to its domestic political standing.
