During Yom Kippur, in an operation that lasted about 12 hours, Navy fighters simultaneously thwarted a widespread infiltration attempt by hundreds of sailors on 42 vessels that declared their intention to breach the legal naval blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Many Navy forces participated in the operation, including fighters from Squadron 13, Squadron 3, Fin fighters and other Navy combat units.

After the takeover, the sailors were safely transferred to the port of Ashdod for further treatment by the Israel Police.
