As Memorial Day drew to a close, Independence Day began last night with solemn ceremonies at Mount Herzl followed by all-day festivities celebrating Israel’s 78th year since its founding.

The Jerusalem Old City walls and the Meitarim Bridge, at the enterance to the cite, were illuminated tonight to mark the 78th Independence Day of the State of Israel

The Israeli flag, the Jerusalem flag and fireworks were projected onto the walls, alongside the inscription "78 years to the State of Israel."
