For the first time, weapons have been collected from Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp, Ain al-Hilweh, as part of an ongoing disarmament process.
The Lebanese-Palestinian Joint Dialogue Committee announced the completion of the fourth stage of transferring weapons from refugee camps to the state. Three truckloads of arms were removed from Beddawi camp in the north, and five from Ain al-Hilweh near Sidon in the south.
The weapons, handed over by Fatah in Lebanon, included large amounts of ammunition, bullets, and bombs, now being processed by the Lebanese Army.
The committee stressed this marks a “new milestone on the strategic path to fully resolve the Palestinian weapons issue,” in line with the May 2025 Lebanese-Palestinian summit attended by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
