Report: "Iranian general arrested on suspicion of spying for Israel"

According to the New York Times, a commander in the Information Protection Unit was arrested shortly before the removal of Hussein Tayeb, head of the Revolutionary Guards intelligence organization.

Senior Revolutionary Guards general Ali Nasiri has been arrested on suspicion of spying for Israel, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

The newspaper also reported that former Iranian Vice President Muhammad Ali Abtahi admitted that "security breaches within Iran and Israeli activities have undermined our intelligence organization." He said, "State security has been fatally damaged in the past year."
