CCTV Video footage circulated on Syrian social media shows the moment the director of the Syrian Ministry of Defense's military construction corporation branch, Basil Abdel Kader, was killed when his car exploded in Hamat.
The recording, released by accounts close to the Syrian regime and taken from a surveillance camera, shows Abdul Kader's car in the al-Kusour neighborhood of Hamat, moving backwards before exploding at the intersection.
The car explosion, caused by an explosive device apparently planted in Abdul Kader's car, led to his immediate death, with photos later circulating showing the car completely burnt on the spot.
The Syrian regime's news agency, SANA, quoted a source in the Hamat governorate police command as saying, "An explosive device was planted by unknown persons in the car of the head of the military construction branch in Hama, Basil Abdul Kader, and it exploded, which led to his immediate death and the burning of the car," adding that investigations have begun. To reveal more details and prosecute the perpetrators."
Local sources stated that the deceased, the branch manager of the Military Construction Corporation, came from the town of Kamkhana in northern Hama.
This is the second incident in the areas of the Syrian regime in recent hours, after a similar explosion in the city of Homs that targeted a car and did not lead to loss of life.
Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, an explosive device exploded in a car in al-Skan al-Shabaab neighborhood in the city of Homs, and photos were circulated on social media showing the car completely burned.
