The ruler of the Emirates, Muhammad bin Zayed, says that "the sovereignty of the emirates and its security is a basic principle that can not be given up or underestimated. 

"We extend a hand of friendship to all countries in the region and the world."

This is his first speech since taking office as ruler of the Emirates after the death of his brother Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayd. The speech is seen as a polite warning to Iran.
